Office Manager and Orthodontic Assistant
I love spending my days surrounded by people who are making a positive, lasting change in their lives. It’s wonderful to build friendships with patients and parents during their visits, and I love hearing their latest news. I enjoy watching people gain self-confidence along with their new smile.
I prepare our patients to see Dr. Adab by explaining what we’ll be doing. Then I sit by their side, assisting the doctor and talking with our patient. At the end of a visit, I provide home-care instructions, answer questions, and tell the person how much we’re looking forward to the next visit.
When I’m not working, I like spending time with my 20-year-old daughter when she is home from college. I also enjoy keeping active, especially outdoors. I love running 5Ks, hiking and swimming, camping, biking, and skiing. I also volunteer in our community.
The reason I like orthodontics is because I like to see the confidence that the patients grow due to their improving smiles. It’s also really great to see how much the younger kids grow over the course of their treatment and how they first come into the office as timid kids and grow into flourishing teens. What every patient has in common is once their braces come off, they all leave genuinely happy and with a smile that lights up a room, and that is what makes being an orthodontic assistant so rewarding.
In my personal life, you can find my family and I at church where my dad pastors and where my husband and I are on the praise and worship team. We have two children, one boy and one girl and when we are not at church we like to explore new places with my family such as trying new walking paths, different foods and restaurants and we take mini road trips to our neighboring states, country or different parts of Washington.
I love getting to know the patients and following them along their smile journey. My job is to assure their comfortability and trust in treatment. My experience has been grounded in young adults because I think it’s important to build up our youth. I do this through mentoring, serving at an orphanage in Mexico, and being a substitute teacher. I get to transfer these passions into my work with Dr. Adab since a smile is a first impression. I get to see our patients’ confidence grow. Other personal hobbies of mine include traveling, refashioning clothes, and anything active or outdoors.
The reason I have become a dental assistant is that I find the anatomy of teeth interesting. I like how everything works in dentistry in general and in orthodontia in particular. I started with orthodontics because I appreciate seeing the improvement of the patient’s teeth, how happy and satisfied they are when they have completed their treatment. I have hobbies outside dentistry. I am a Zumba instructor. I have been teaching it ever since I was 16 years old. My Zumba classes are lively and fun and I get to help other dancers with their goals. Also, on my spare time, with my husband, I breed show dogs. We train our dogs and take them to competitions. It is an interesting hobby and requires a lot of knowledge as well as diligence and hard work. In general, I love dogs, they are part of my life. They go everywhere with me, hiking, running, conditioning…
